Spawn & First Steps
You start in a prison cell with a basic shovel. Your objective is to dig your way to freedom through various routes. First, familiarize yourself with the controls and your surroundings.
Basic Controls
- WASD - Movement
- Space - Jump
- Click/Tap - Dig or interact
- Shift - Sprint (drains stamina)
Step 1: Gather Resources
Explore your cell and nearby areas to find Toilet Paper (currency), food items, and potentially better tools. Trade with other prisoners to get upgrades.
Step 2: Upgrade Your Tool
The basic shovel is slow. Save Toilet Paper to buy an Iron or Steel Pickaxe from traders. This will significantly speed up your progress.
Step 3: Plan Your Route
Decide which ending you want to pursue. Main Ending is easiest for beginners. Scout the area and identify your target location.
Step 4: Avoid Detection
Guards patrol regularly. Learn their routes and dig when they're far away. Use stealth mode to move quietly.
Step 5: Execute Your Escape
Once prepared, dig to your target depth or location. Find the exit passage and escape to freedom!
Tool Efficiency
Each tool upgrade doubles your digging speed. Prioritize getting better tools early.
Stamina Management
Don't sprint constantly. Manage stamina for emergency situations when guards appear.
Trading Smart
Save Toilet Paper for essential items. Don't waste currency on cosmetics early game.
Team Play
Coordinate with friends. Multiple players can dig faster and watch for guards.
Hunger System
Keep food items in inventory. Low hunger slows down all actions significantly.
Secret Areas
Explore thoroughly. Hidden rooms contain rare items and shortcuts to endings.
For experienced players looking to escape as fast as possible:
- Skip resource gathering and go straight for the main tunnel
- Use the Golden Pickaxe if available (4x speed)
- Memorize guard patrol timings for optimal movement
- Dig in straight lines to minimize distance
- Main Ending is fastest for speed runs (5-10 minutes with Golden Pickaxe)
- Practice the route multiple times to optimize pathing
- ✗Digging too loudly near guards - they will hear you
- ✗Ignoring hunger - you'll move extremely slowly
- ✗Not upgrading tools - wastes tons of time
- ✗Random digging without a plan - leads to dead ends
- ✗Rushing without scouting - increases detection risk
